think this is one of the missing pieces in this conversation. the reality is barack obama's is the most dominating, controlling foreign policy national security president since richard nixon. he doesn't delegate. he dominate. he is going to control all of the major decisions regarding american diplomacy and certainly the use of force. so whatever chuck hagel thinks or doesn't think on the issue of attacking or not attacking iran it ultimately will be the president's decision and it's not going to be a 6-5 vote either. whether it goes towards diplomacy or towards war. this is going to have to be a consensus given the stakes. so, yeah, i think chuck hagel understands that attacking iran on the risk to reward ratio is heavily skewed toward the, toward the risk side rather than the reward but in the end in an op-ed last year he supported the use of force as an option that should be kept on the table. so in the end president's call, jenna. jenna: okay. one of the points you made in your writing after this interview that you did with senator hagel about his comments regarding the quote, unquo

, consider this. did you know the gun rights group has even been able to influence obama care. yep. the signature achievement of a president long tied to gun control bears the fingerprints of this ultrapowerful gun lobbying group. our chief medical correspondent dr. sanjay gupta has been looking into this and i must say, this really surprised me. >> they take credit for this, absolutely. the lobbying, the money certainly since sort of 2010 pushing to have some specific provisions put into the affordable care act, it was senator harry reid who ultimately put in. it's not a long provision, just five lines. it doesn't specifically say doctors can't ask patients about guns, but it really prevents any kind of data collection, any research, any making gun questioning part of wellness programs, like you might ask about smoke detectors, swimming pools, other things in the home, so it's a significant provision. the nra will say and we've talked to them, if people doctors know they have guns, could it affect their insurance premiums in the long run even though there's been no history of that

we're done negotiating with obama. >> bill: we had a vote last friday on -- after john boehner refused to come to the relief of the victims of hurricane sandy in the last congress, they voted $9 billion for flood control insurance, even that, some republicans couldn't support. >> this was the national flood program that was going to expire that friday. if there was no vote. >> bill: of course they always wait until the last minute. >> last second. they voted to expand its borrowing authority by $9 billion. 67 republicans still voted against it to show that they were really against spending after the deal that the fiscal cliff fixed they claim didn't contain enough spending cuts so they voted against it. but the problem is we found that 37 of the 67 had requested all kinds of disaster relief for their own states whether it be drought help, whether it be frozen crops whether it be hurricane aid from the federal government so again you see this pattern of bringing money back from my constituents but take this principled, political stance when you're on the national stage. >> bill:
